Chipotle Chicken Wings With Avocado Crema Dip

This is by far my favorite chicken wing recipe. What I love about it is that not only is it packed with flavor, it is also super healthy and suitable for a grain-free diet, gluten-free, Paleo or specific carbohydrate diet, also known as SCD. I hope your family enjoys this one as much as mine does.


Chicken Wings

  • 2 lbs. chicken wings
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp. crushed chipotle
  • 1/2 cup pitted dates
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 4 tsp paprika or 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 4 tbsp. melted coconut oil
  • 4 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 4 tbsp water
  • chopped cilantro for garnish

Avocado Crema Dip

  • 1 small ripe avocado
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/4 cup cilantro
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/4 tsp salt


Chicken Wings

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Toss wings in a bowl, wash and pat dry. Pour the olive oil over them, salt and pepper and lay them out on 2 baking sheets or a wire rack. Back the chicken wings for about 25 minutes or until brown. Then take them out and turn them (if you are using baking sheets only). After you have turned them, leave them in for another 10 minutes.
  3. While the wings are in the oven, in a food processor or blender, combine the crushed chili, dates, cumin, paprika, coconut oil, vinegar and water. Blend until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, then you can add some water so that it becomes smoother.
  4. Take chicken wings out of the oven, toss them into a bowl along with chipotle sauce and shake it up.
  5. Dip in the avocado crema.

Avocado Crema Dip

  1. In a food processor or blender, combine all of ingredients mentioned above until smooth. You can add more water to make it smoother. Taste for salt.
